The province of Palencia offers a wide variety of plans for a weekend like this one, for all tastes, on the occasion of the local festival of 'Las Candelas'.

For those who wish to immerse themselves in the daily life of ancient Rome, in Pedrosa de la Vega they will discover the Roman Villa La Olmeda. This magnificent villa, with more than 1,600 years of history, pleases visitors with its practically intact rooms where they can admire its mosaics and discover the secrets of a transcendental civilization in our days.

The site is open to the public from Tuesday to Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and offers the possibility of guided tours. On Monday, February 3, the Roman villa will remain closed. To arrange a guided tour, it is necessary to book in advance by calling 979119997 or 670450143 during public opening hours. Likewise, La Olmeda can be visited with an information brochure, QR codes and audiovisuals with virtual reconstructions.

The La Olmeda museum in Saldaña (6 kilometres from the archaeological site) can be visited on Saturday 1 February and Sunday 2 February from 10:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. On Monday 3 February the museum will remain closed. A weekend full of festivities and tradition. This weekend, the province of Palencia becomes the epicentre of tradition and gastronomy, with events that commemorate the roots of the area and invite you to enjoy a unique experience.

A new edition of its emblematic Feria de las Candelas is being held in Saldaña. The town is dressed up to celebrate this event on February 2, which has become a benchmark event in the agriculture and livestock sector and which marks the beginning of the town's trade fair calendar, attracting hundreds of visitors every year. The event brings together not only professionals but also lovers of gastronomy, culture and traditions. One of the most eagerly awaited moments will be the free tasting of white beans from Saldaña, a star product of local gastronomy that will delight the most demanding palates.

Finally, we would like to remind you that the Roman Villa La Tejada is temporarily closed.
