_____________
The Roman Villa of Pedrosa de la Vega (Palencia) opens throughout the December Holiday Weekend at its usual hours, from 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., including next Monday, December 7th. In the archaeological site, more than 1,500 square meters of mosaic are preserved in an excellent way of conservation. The Museum of La Olmeda in Saldaña, where the collection of archaeological objects is exhibited, can be visited with the same ticket.
In addition, the Palencia Provincial Council, in collaboration with the Palencia Christmas scene Association "Francisco de Asís", presents a Christmas Nativity scene inspired by the late roman mansion of the 4th century AD. It presents the Christmas nativity in the "oecus" of the " villa" as the main theme, along with other scenes such as the Massacre of the Innocents and Jesus among the Doctors. Visitors will also identify different handicrafts from ancient times represented in the main portico of the mansion.
Finally, the Palencia Provincial Council presents a new lighting project for the site that has replaced the previous luminaire with new pendant lighting models with LED technology, a power of 73W and an estimated duration of 70,000 hours, which means a reduction in power and consumption energy, improving the distribution and light quality of the Pedrosa de la Vega archaeological site, increasing the uniformity and distribution of light and thus enhancing the color fidelity for a better appreciation of the mosaics.
In addition to the reduction in power and consumption obtained, the new luminaires pursue preventive conservation and respectful care of archaeological heritage, at the same time that they increase the spectacularity when viewing the mosaics by the visitor, without forgetting the beneficial effect for the environment, reducing emissions and global warming of our planet.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic and to avoid crowds at noon it is advisable to reserve the ticket in advance, through the booking and purchase web at https://ventaentradasvro.diputaciondepalencia.es/.
